Work description
Protecting SBB workers
CSC Construzioni completed work on the contract for the design and construction of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) Maintenance Center Protection System in Biasca in just 12 months. The project involved the construction of about 27 thousand square meters of roofing to protect the newly constructed buildings of the Maintenance Center, as well as tracks for the sheltering of emergency and service vehicles. For its implementation, up to 100 direct and third-party personnel were employed.
The contract was executed under the “GU Plus” (Design & Build) formula, and therefore the company's skills and experience, including in the field of design, were of paramount importance for the successful execution of the project.
The main objective of the interventions carried out was to increase the safety of the area, to protect workers from the risks of rockfalls, but also to reduce possible impacts on the operations of the maintenance site, which, among other things, also carries out emergency and rescue activities serving the Gotthard tunnel.
