Sustainable Mobility: Commuting at the Core of Corporate Climate Strategy
28/05/2026
The transition toward more sustainable business models is also shaped by everyday choices. Among them, employee commuting has become a strategic area for companies committed to reducing their environmental footprint.
In this context, CSC Costruzioni, part of the Webuild Group, launched an internal assessment focused on employees’ commuting habits in order to better measure the indirect emissions generated by daily travel.
Conducted through an internal survey, the initiative provided valuable insights into the transportation methods employees use to reach the workplace and their related CO₂ impact.
One finding stands out in particular: nearly half of the company’s employees already rely on public transportation for their daily commute. The result highlights a growing awareness of more sustainable and lower-emission mobility choices.
The analysis also strengthens the company’s ESG reporting framework by enabling a more accurate evaluation of Scope 3 emissions — indirect emissions generated across the value chain and not directly linked to operational activities.
For CSC Costruzioni, the initiative represents a key step in improving the quality of environmental data, identifying additional opportunities for emissions reduction, and encouraging more responsible behaviors across the organization.
The project forms part of a broader environmental transition strategy in which employee engagement plays a central role in supporting the shift toward more resilient and sustainable development models.
