Integrated BIM: a strategic lever for complex projects

12/02/2026

At CSC Costruzioni, BIM has become a central tool for managing complex projects—when it is fully integrated into structured and shared processes.

On one of our construction sites in Canton Ticino, for example, the BIM process is based on a federated model involving:

  • more than 10 disciplines and design teams
  • over 80 IFC models
  • more than 1,300 model versions, the result of continuous and precise coordination among designers

The BIM model is used operationally to:

  • extract construction drawings directly from the model
  • resolve clashes between disciplines and within individual disciplines
  • control and verify quantities, structured using first- and second-level CCC codes
  • ensure traceability and consistency of information throughout the process

BIM is part of a broader digital innovation ecosystem, which also includes:

  • verification of compliance with safety requirements
  • on-site quality control
  • monitoring of work progress
  • photographic reporting using drones and 360° cameras, with weekly comparisons of site conditions
  • digitalisation of the Site Log, completed directly on a shared project platform

All of this is only possible when technology is supported by skills, methodology, and collaboration among the people involved in the project.

Technology alone does not innovate—human capital makes the difference.
