CSC Costruzioni Establishes Its Carbon Baseline with First Greenhouse Gas Inventory

Measuring environmental impact is the starting point of any credible sustainability strategy. In 2025, CSC Costruzioni (Webuild Group) completed its first greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory, prepared in accordance with the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064-1:2018 standards.

The assessment provides the company with a robust and transparent emissions baseline, creating the foundation for a structured decarbonization roadmap and supporting the integration of climate considerations into future business decisions.

The inventory reports a total carbon footprint of 49,021.5 tCO₂e, broken down as follows:

  • Scope 1: 983 tCO₂e (2.01%)
  • Scope 2: 2.92 tCO₂e (<0.01%)
  • Scope 3: 48,035 tCO₂e (97.98%)

The findings underline a defining feature of the construction industry: nearly the entire emissions profile lies within Scope 3, with purchased materials and services accounting for the largest share. This confirms that the greatest opportunities for decarbonization are found across the value chain, making supplier engagement and procurement strategies key levers for reducing emissions.

For CSC Costruzioni, the inventory represents more than a reporting exercise. It is a strategic management tool that enables the company to identify priorities, guide operational decisions, and translate environmental data into measurable actions. As sustainability increasingly becomes a driver of industrial competitiveness, establishing a reliable emissions baseline is an essential step towards delivering long-term environmental performance.
